European Carrefour for Dry Stone

Dry stone building is part of the European heritage. The artisans capable of preserving and developing this heritage – the dykers – still do not benefit from sufficient recognition and the survival of their practical knowledge still depends largely on being handed down by word of mouth.  We must capitalise on this practical knowledge by offering it the legal, scientific and institutional status that it merits.

This recognition will enable the long-term preservation of this European cultural heritage by developing the potential for public and private sector investment in constructions in dry stone which is today blocked by lack of common (standard) frames of reference.

The European Carrefour of Dry Stone creates a networks of NGOs and professionals and aims at supporting this know-how and its practice.
